Embracing our Methodist heritage, our faith is guided by Scripture, tradition, experience and reason. We want to be a place where people can explore and expand their spiritual lives, striving to make God's love visible in this world.
Worship is at the center of the life of Alcovy United Methodist Church. Each Sunday morning we celebrate worship at 11:00 with “traditional worship for contemporary people.” Our setting is traditional with pews for seating, a printed bulletin to follow the order of worship, and hymns to sing. But our attitude is relaxed and informal. Dress is “come as you wish.” For some that means jeans and a tee-shirt, for others a sport coat and tie. All are welcome.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is usually offered on the first Sunday of month. In keeping with United Methodist beliefs, Holy Communion is open to anyone who wishes to participate. You do not need to be a member of our church or of any church to take communion at Alcovy UMC. People of all ages and stages of life are welcome to take part in communion. The Sacrament of Holy Baptism (for infants, children, or adults) may be arranged by speaking with the pastor.
Special worship experiences provide an opportunity to emphasize important seasons and explore diverse styles of worship. Such services are offered on Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and on Easter morning. Services of prayer and healing will also be offered from time to time.
